Charleston Wedding Venues

The idea of traveling to Charleston, SC, to celebrate one of the most important events of your life has to be an exciting concept.  Although you probably have visited Charleston and may have a list of Charleston wedding venues already created, remain open to all the possibilities that Charleston wedding venues can offer.  If you have only been to Charleston enough to know you want your wedding to take place there, then you are in for a treat as you continue narrowing down your choice.
In looking at Charleston wedding venues, you may be able to narrow your list to these very wide categories:

Beach weddings.   A number of brides choose Charleston as the perfect location for a beach wedding, and there are some great venues from which to choose.  As Charleston wedding venues go, this is one of the most popular.  The choices range from a casual wedding on the sand at Folly Beach to a more formal affair at one of the area’s world-class resorts, such as Wild Dunes.  As you begin working with a wedding planner, ask for a list of possible locations.

Historic homes.   Charleston is known for its historic preservation, which means there are a number of historic homes that provide an amazing backdrop for your magical day.  The William Aiken House is one of the most popular locations, but the list of Charleston wedding venues in historic homes runs the gamut. 
Plantations.   Although it would be safe and accurate to include plantation homes under the historic homes category, the number of locations available allows us to consider these Charleston wedding venues in their own right.  The choices range from Lowndes Grove which is very close to downtown, to other plantations that sit on much larger grounds. 

Historic churches.    Because of its beginning in 1670, Charleston has been home to some of the oldest churches in the country.  In fact, there are so many wonderful churches that the city has earned the name “The Holy City” and wears the title very proudly.  (By the way, Charleston has always had a large Jewish community as well.)
