Bridal couples have certainly discovered Charleston, SC, probably because of all the Charleston outdoor wedding venues.  Nothing quite beats the magic cast by exchanging  wedding vows beneath the crystal Carolina Blue skies, possibly with sandy white beaches and ocean waves as the backdrop.  The romance and grandeur of an outdoor wedding is magnified when adding one of the numerous outdoor wedding venues in and around Charleston.

Charleston’s outdoor wedding venues vary as much as the city, recently named as one of the most beautiful cities in the country by a number of national media outlets.  Here are just a few amazing choices.

  • White Point Gardens.  Located at the tip of the Charleston Peninsula in the heart of the historic area, this park overlooks the confluence of the Ashley and Cooper Rivers as it flows into the Atlantic Ocean at Charleston Harbor.  (Historic Ft. Sumter overlooks the garden from the mouth of the harbor.)  In addition to gorgeous live oak trees and gazebos, the backdrop of the historic antebellum homes lining the area makes for a perfect Charleston outdoor wedding venue in nearly every way.
  • Charleston Aquarium.  Just a mile or two up the Charleston Peninsula sits the South Carolina Aquarium, a large interactive museum.  This venue offers a number of choices with interesting views of the Arthur Ravenel Bridge, one of the largest suspension bridges in the world.  (Around here, we just call it “the bridge.”)  The views alone make help include it on the list of Charleston outdoor wedding venues.
  • Brittlebank  Park.  This lovely public park straddles the Ashley River not far from The Citadel, and it features a number of interesting venues for a wedding that only Charleston could host.  With one of the most historic rivers in the country as a backdrop, it’s difficult to find a Charleston outdoor wedding venue to top it.
  • Any of the beaches, your choice!   A list of Charleston outdoor wedding venues would not be complete without mentioning the area beaches.  There are at least three excellent choices:  Folly Beach, Sullivan’s Isle of Palms.  Each offers its own unique personality, which provides you with choices to make to match the type of wedding day you want to create.  Folly Beach is the most eclectic of the group, with Sullivan’s Island and Isle of Palms being a little more laid back and natural.   One thing each has in common is their proximity to downtown Charleston as well as a great supply of rental houses for hosting the wedding parties and various bridal celebrations.

Of course, this list only scratches the surface.  We didn’t even mention the various plantations that dot the area.  As you can see, it’s certainly not hard to find an outdoor wedding venue in Charleston.  The hardest decision you have to make is which one to choose!  Please contact us with your planning and coordinating needs.  We are here to help you plan your wedding.
