Charleston conference event planningCharleston conference event planning

I’ve been attending meetings in Charleston for over 20 years, and have been involved in planning a couple on my own as well.  Charleston conference event planning is fulfilling in a number of ways, mostly because there a wealth of resources available and tons of wonderful choices for making the event exciting.  As one of the most interesting cities in the country, Charleston conference event planning can include everything from cultural events to historic tours to a “back to nature” outing.

For some of the conferences I’ve been able to attend, here are some of my favorite things I’ve done.  The list includes:

  • Harbor Dinner Cruise.  Cruising the picturesque Charleston Harbor as the sun sets over the marsh has left me with an image I will not forget.  Including some type of outing on the water is sure to make the conference event planning in Charleston a hit, but the harbor Cruise is certainly a hard one to beat.  It’s also a great bonding experience for a large group that has not had that much time to socialize since there is nothing to do but watch the scenery and chat as you enjoy your meal.
  • Citadel Officer’s Club.  Even though I was living in Charleston at the time, I didn’t even know this place existed until I attended a team building event there.  The club is located on Sullivan’s Island near the lighthouse that guides ships through Charleston Harbor, and it has a little bit of everything for a relaxed outing at the beach.  I particularly loved the large screened-in porch area.  A Charleston conference event plan that needs a large area near the beach will find this venue perfect.
  • The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island.  Given that this five-star hotel sits on the beach at one of the country’s most exclusive resorts, the price tag will be hefty.  As Charleston conference event planning goes, The Sanctuary is safe bet to impress your guests and leave them knowing you wanted to show everyone a great time.  The venue features a number of places for group activities, but my favorite one is the croquet lawn just off the main lobby and visitor’s lounge.  The pool area is a tropical paradise.
  • Charlestowne Landing.   This site of the first settlement in what is now Charleston, this state park area re-opened in August 2006 with a renewed spirit and more historical look.  The venue features outdoor picnic areas, costumed re-enactors demonstrating various chores done in the original settlement and the area offers a great view of the Ashley River.   Charleston conference event planning professionals have been slow to discover this local gem, and staging an event in this area will be a great idea for groups who have been to Charleston for meetings on several occasions.

Charleston has so many great places to explore for all types of groups.  When all else fails, just give your guests a map and tell them to get lost  . . . in a nice way, of course!  They’ll discover something new and interesting almost everywhere they turn.
