Beach Destination Weddings
Plans for the best beach destination weddings involves more than having the sand and surf as your main decorative
element. Beach destination weddings involve all the traditional elements of a wedding, substituting the beach as your “wedding chapel” of
sorts. Consider that beach destination weddings may involve even more planning than a wedding held in a traditional venue.
As you start planning your wedding, there is a long list of items to include that goes beyond just the wedding itself. Beach destination
weddings offer the same list of concerns. At a minimal, you will consider locations for the rehearsal dinner, wedding itself and the
wedding reception. In order to properly consider the concerns of your guest, it’s nice if the locations for the wedding and reception are
somewhat close to one another. (Of course, the rehearsal dinner can be successful regardless of its proximity to the wedding and
reception.) For beach destination weddings, the requirements for serving food will be different and the locations may be a beach house
rather than a reception venue or restaurant.
Beach destination weddings in Charleston offer a wide range of options, from the slightly funky Folly Beach to the laid-back Sullivan’s
Island. In the middle, you have Isle of Palms. For a more elegant setting with a higher price tag, you can choose from three of the
top beach resorts on the East Coast – Wild Dunes, Kiawah Island and Seabrook Island. Of course, the three resorts offer more elegant
settings closer to the beach.
Wild Dunes, in particular, is a well-balanced venue for weddings. From the pool deck to the Grand Pavilion to the Sweetgrass
ballroom to the croquet lawn, the possibilities for events are endless. A short hop away is the IOP Marina, where you can embark on a dinner
cruise around Charleston Harbor. The staff at this venue makes planning and execution a pleasure.
The key point: although beach destination weddings are relaxed and romantic, the elements of a wedding are still important to
note. Be sure that you choose the beach venue that works for the entire wedding plan, and not just the wedding itself!
